In a significant move towards supporting education, approximately 300 students from Cagayan’s First District have received much-needed educational assistance. This initiative aligns with Governor Mamba’s “No Barangay Left Behind” campaign and is spearheaded by Board Member Garcia’s “No Student Left Behind” program. The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burdens associated with education, enabling students to pursue their academic goals.
Under this program, qualified students will receive a total of ₱8,000, divided into two tranches, to help ease their educational expenses. The program officially commenced on June 20, 2024, at the Barangay Gym in Bangag, Lallo. Board Member Garcia, who has been a strong advocate for education, emphasized its importance in building a brighter future for Cagayan. This belief is a continuation of his efforts from 2010 to 2016, during his first term as a board member, when he implemented the “Bidang Mag-aaral Rural Scholarship Grant” (BMRSG).
Board Member Garcia expressed his gratitude for the support of the Provincial Treasury Office, led by Provincial Treasurer Miles Mallonga, whose efforts ensured the smooth distribution of funds. The event was also graced by the presence of Lallo SB Member Rowyn Rowel Samonte, who showed his support for the initiative.
Looking ahead, the long-term impact of the “No Student Left Behind” program will be measured by the continued academic performance of its recipients. The initiative has the potential to transform individual lives and contribute significantly to Cagayan’s social and economic development.
