The Committee on Health, Sanitation, Population, and Technology of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cagayan convened a committee hearing to deliberate on the 2026 Annual Investment Plan (AIP), particularly focusing on the STI-HIV-AIDS Program and the Provincial Nutrition Action Plan. These are two key components of the province’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health systems, preventive programs, and community wellness initiatives.
The session was presided over by Board Member Kamille Concepcion D. Ponce-Perez, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, Sanitation, Population, and Technology, together with Vice Chairperson Board Member Rowena G. Retoma and Committee Member Board Member Maria Rosario Soriano.
Representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) Region II, the Provincial Health Office (PHO), and the National Nutrition Council (NNC) also attended the hearing, providing updates, technical inputs, and program recommendations to guide the committee’s review and ensure alignment with national health priorities.
Discussions centered on enhancing local interventions for STI-HIV-AIDS prevention and control, as well as improving nutrition programs targeting vulnerable groups, particularly children, pregnant women, and nutritionally at-risk communities. The deliberation also tackled strategies for capacity building, health education, and inter-agency collaboration to effectively implement the proposed programs for 2026.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to expanding healthcare access, strengthening preventive services, and promoting a healthier Cagayan through evidence-based legislation and sustained partnerships with public health institutions and community stakeholders.
