The Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved a resolution authored by the third district Board Member, Hon. Rodrigo De Asis appealing for a financial assistance to Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for the replacement and installation of new equipment at Solana Pump Irrigation System (SPIS) located at Maddarulug, Solana Cagayan during the 90th Regular Session last May 4, 2021 held at the SP Hall, Capitol Hills, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
The granted fund amounting to two hundred forty-three million pesos (243,000,000.00) was used in the replacement and installation of new six (6) units of vertical mixed flow pump electric motor and control panel with complete accessories for the SPIS.
According to BM De Asis, the purpose of the said resolution was to improve the farmers quality of life through the construction, provision, and installation of the irrigation facilities that will cater the needs of the farmers in the province. Further, it will also support the government’s drive towards food sufficiency and addressed the livelihood of many constituents affected by the COCID-19 Pandemic.
“Improving the irrigation system was one of the crucial steps that the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) can undertake to ensure that the farming industry will be given preferential attention by the government”, said BM De Asis.
The replacement and installation of the new acquired pumps had improved the discharged and supply of irrigation water thus, reaching the furthest irrigable areas in Northen Solana. It increased the irrigated areas from 2800 hectares to 3500 hectares and became advantageous to the farmers who are covered by the Solana Pump Irrigation System (SPIS).
