The office of the Vice Governor headed by the Honorable Melvin “Boy” Vagas Jr. and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Office in partnership with One Movement Inc. successfully conducted tree planting activity at barangay Namabbalan, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan last July 30, 2023.
The objective of the said activity is to conserve nature and moved to mitigate landslide, floods and soil erosion that considered as the primary effects of typhoons especially that our province is an area that is prone to floods. In fact, trees contribute immensely in preserving soil. Far reaching roots hold soil in place and fight erosion, adding that trees absorb and store rainwater, which reduce runoff and sediment deposit after storms.
Further, Vice Gov. Boy Vargas looks forward for more activities like this to preserve the natural resources of the province. He is also optimists that his fellow Cagayanos will be more responsible with their action towards our environment in view of the different effects of climate change.
“We are the one who suffers the consequences of our actions. This tree planting activity is one of the best solutions we could make to prevent the effects of calamities. Let us move together and aim for the best for our beloved province. This is for the future that awaits us”, said VG Boy Vargas.
He was also thankful with the initiative of One Movement Inc. in conducting the said activity together with his fellow Cagayanos who gave time and effort in participating the said event.
